Grażyna Maciejko was born in 1938 as a daughter of Zbigniew Odrowąż-Kapuściński, PhD, an academic teacher at the Faculty of Chemistry of the Warsaw University of Technology, who was murdered in Katyń.

In March 1959 she was employed in the Chair of Technical Analysis and Commodity Studies (presently the Chair of Analytical Chemistry). During her 30 years of work in the Chair, she participated both in the organizational and technical works of the teaching process, as well as in scientific and research works. In recognition of her achievements, she was promoted to increasingly higher positions in her capacity as an engineering and technical employee and eventually reached the position of senior master. She is the co-author of 2 scientific publications. Her creative participation in scientific work has been acknowledged in several other publications. At the same time, she was a social activist at the Faculty of Chemistry – for 8 years she was a representative of all the employees of the Chair of Analytical Chemistry, then in the years 1973-1980 she was a member of the Council of the Institute of General Chemistry and Inorganic Technology of the Faculty of Chemistry and a representative of administrative and technical employees in the Council of the Faculty of Chemistry.

In 1982-1993 (4 terms of office) she was elected a member of the Senate of the Warsaw University of Technology as a representative of administrative and technical staff. The Senate of the Warsaw University of Technology elected her the President of the Senate’s Labour, Payroll and Social Policy Committee. She was also a member of the Senate Human Resources and Property and Finance Committee of the Warsaw University of Technology and the Rector’s Commission for Social Affairs.

In April 1991, at the request of the University’s authorities, she took the position of Chief Employee Specialist in the Central Administration of the Warsaw University of Technology, and was subsequently appointed Deputy Administrative Director for Employee Affairs at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1996-2013, after taking early retirement, she worked as an administrative employee affairs specialist at the NSZZ “Solidarność” Trade Union Works Commission at the Warsaw University of Technology. As a representative of the National Science Section of the NSZZ “Solidarność”, she participated in negotiations and actively worked for the development of higher education and science and the rights of university employees on the forum of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Committee of the Parliament of the Republic of Poland.
